After deciding to go to South Korea’s ID Plastic Surgery Center, the next step is to make an appointment. Many Taiwanese people get stuck at this point: through which platform should they make the reservation? How much deposit should be paid in advance? What examinations will be done on the day of the consultation? What if one doesn’t speak Korean? In this article, I will share my own actual experience, covering the entire process from the moment I received the consultation until I was discharged after the surgery and returned to Taiwan. Even if you don’t understand Korean at all, it’s not a problem, as the entire process is supported in Chinese.

Reservation channels: BeautsGO platform vs official website vs third-party agents

📱

Currently, there are three main channels for booking consultations with plastic surgery specialists via ID:

  • BeautsGO Platform (Recommended): The most popular South Korea medical beauty booking platform used by Taiwanese people. It offers Chinese-speaking customer service (WeChat: Hannah972) to assist customers throughout the entire process, from booking to translation and post-treatment follow-up. The platform itself does not charge any commission, and the prices are the same as those when contacting hospitals directly. After making a reservation, you will receive a detailed list of pre-treatment preparations and travel recommendations.
  • Direct reservation via the official website: The ID Plastic Surgery official website (cn.idhospital.com) offers both a Chinese version and an online consultation form. After filling out the form, the hospital will respond via email or WeChat. The advantage is that you can communicate directly with the hospital, but the downside is that the response time is relatively slow (usually 1–3 working days), and there is no third-party assistance for scheduling appointments.
  • Taiwan agents/brokers: There are many agencies in South Korea that can help arrange travel arrangements and provide translation services. However, it is important to note that some of these agencies may charge a commission (the surgical prices you see at the hospitals are usually 10–20% higher when booked through such agencies). If you decide to use an agent, make sure to confirm that they are a legitimate channel approved by the hospitals themselves.

I made my reservation through the BeautsGO platform, mainly because it was so convenient. After adding Hannah972 on WeChat, she helped me gather basic information about ID Plastic Surgery, recommended surgical options, and provided suggestions for my travel itinerary in South Korea, saving me a lot of time in researching on my own. Later, during my in-person consultation in South Korea, she also arranged for a Chinese translator to accompany me throughout the process – this service is truly essential for those who don’t speak Korean.

Step-by-Step reservation process: From consultation to confirmation of the surgery date

📋

Here is the complete reservation process, and I will explain each step in detail:

  1. Submit your consultation: Please provide your basic information through BeautsGO or the official website—including your name, contact details, the services you would like to consult about, and the desired date for the procedure. It is recommended to attach recent photos of yourself in natural lighting, from the front, side, and at a 45-degree angle, so that the doctor can make an initial assessment before the in-person consultation.
  2. Initial response: You will receive a reply within 1 to 3 working days, which will include preliminary surgical recommendations, approximate price ranges, and suggested appointment dates. This stage merely provides a general direction and is not the final plan.
  3. Confirm the appointment date: After confirming the appointment date with the customer service, you can book your flight and accommodation. It is recommended to schedule the appointment on the 1st or 2nd day of your arrival in South Korea to ensure sufficient time for pre-operative examinations.
  4. Preparation before the procedure: The hospital will send you a list of preoperative instructions (such as abstaining from smoking and alcohol for 2 weeks before the surgery, and stopping the use of certain medications or health supplements). It is essential to follow these instructions strictly, as they directly affect the safety of the surgery and your recovery afterward.
  5. Upon arrival for the in-person consultation: Bring your passport, any previous medical records you have, and a list of your concerns on the day of the appointment. The consultation usually takes 1-2 hours and includes a 3D CT scan as well as a face-to-face discussion with the director of the clinic.
  6. Confirmation of the treatment plan and surgery date: If you decide to proceed with the procedure after the consultation, the treatment plan, the final cost estimate, and the surgery date will be confirmed on the same day. For Double Jaw Surgery, it usually takes 1 to 3 weeks to get a schedule slot (due to Dr. Park’s busy schedule), while the waiting time for contouring surgeries is shorter.
  7. Payment of a deposit: After the surgery is confirmed, you will need to pay approximately 20-30% of the total cost in the form of a credit card transaction or cash. The remaining amount should be paid in full before the surgery.

⚠️ Special reminder: Before undergoing Double Jaw Surgery, it is necessary to have an Orthodontics assessment. If you have previously undergone Orthodontics in Taiwan, be sure to bring all your treatment records to Dr. Park for review. In some cases, the results of your Orthodontics treatment may affect the surgical plan for Double Jaw Surgery; it is essential to discuss these details clearly during the consultation.

Procedure on the day of surgery: From registration to entering the operating room

🏥

On the day before the surgery, you will receive a confirmation call from the hospital, informing you of the registration time (usually between 7 and 8 am) and the fasting requirements (you must fast and avoid drinking for 8 hours before the surgery). After registering, a nurse will help you change into surgical clothing, prepare you for the IV drip, and conduct one last check of your vital signs. The anesthesiologist will reconfirm your allergy history and the anesthesia plan, and Director Park will also have a final consultation with you to finalize the surgical details.

Double Jaw Surgery usually takes approximately 3 to 5 hours, while contouring surgery takes around 2 to 3 hours. After the procedure, patients are observed in the recovery room for 1 to 2 hours to ensure that their vital signs are stable before being transferred back to the ward. For Double Jaw Surgery, patients typically need to stay in the hospital for 2 to 3 nights, while those who have undergone contouring surgery require 1 to 2 nights of hospitalization. During the hospital stay, nurses provide 24-hour care, and patients can request whatever they need by pressing the call button.

Discharge and post-operative follow-up appointments: How to spend your days in Seoul

🫧

Being discharged from the hospital does not mean that you can return to your home country immediately. The timing of post-operative follow-up visits is very important:

  • On the 7th day after the surgery: The first follow-up visit, where the stitches are removed, the healing of the wound is checked, and the treatment program for reducing swelling begins.
  • On the 14th day after the procedure: The second follow-up visit is conducted to assess the progress of swelling reduction and adjust dietary recommendations (from liquid diet to semi-liquid/soft food).
  • On the 21st day after the surgery (if still in South Korea): A comprehensive examination will be conducted, including a post-surgery CT scan for comparison with the pre-surgery images, to confirm that it is safe to return home.

During the days in South Korea after the surgery, the most important thing was to “obey all the instructions carefully.” Every piece of advice given by Director Park and the nurses made perfect sense—when to start doing mouth exercises, when it was safe to gently wash one’s face, and which foods should be avoided. Don’t assume that since you are recovering well, you can skip certain steps on your own. The biggest risk associated with plastic surgery is not the operation itself, but rather failing to take proper care of yourself after the procedure.

Remote tracking after returning to one’s home country: How to stay in touch with your ID

📱

Returning home does not mean the end of the process. ID Plastic Surgery will arrange regular follow-up consultations via remote means, including:

  • Regular WeChat updates: Every week, I send photos of my face to the hospital via WeChat, and the doctors check on the progress of the swelling reduction and recovery.
  • 1 month/3 months/6 months after the procedure: If you plan to return to South Korea, it is recommended to schedule a follow-up visit; otherwise, continue to monitor the recovery progress via WeChat.
  • Emergency Situation: If any post-operative complications occur in Taiwan (such as severe pain, abnormal swelling, bleeding, etc.), you can immediately contact ID Plastic Surgery through the BeautsGO customer service, or go directly to the plastic surgery department of a large hospital in Taiwan for treatment.

What I find particularly responsible about ID Plastic Surgery is that they offer free follow-up consultations within six months after the surgery. This is very different from some clinics that lose touch with their patients after the procedure. Such long-term follow-up service is of great importance to overseas patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it really possible not to know Korean? Will there be any problems during in-person consultations and communications?

A: There’s absolutely no need to worry. ID Plastic Surgery has dedicated Chinese translators who will accompany patients throughout the entire process, from the initial consultation and surgical explanations to the hospital stay. In addition, BeautsGO’s Chinese customer service representative, Hannah972, is available to assist patients throughout the entire process, from making appointments to providing post-operative support. Although Dr. Park primarily speaks Korean, accurate communication is ensured through translation, so there will be no misunderstandings or information gaps.

Q: How long does it usually take to get scheduled for the surgery after making a reservation?

A: It depends on the type of surgery. For contouring surgeries (jawbone/chin angle/V-line), the waiting time is approximately 1–2 weeks; however, due to Dr. Park’s busy schedule, Double Jaw Surgery usually requires a waiting period of 2–4 weeks. It is recommended to make an appointment at least 1–2 months in advance, especially if you wish to schedule the surgery for a specific date, such as during a holiday.

Q: Can the deposit be refunded? What if I decide not to proceed after the in-person consultation?

A: Under normal circumstances, if you decide not to proceed with the surgery after a face-to-face consultation, the deposit can be refunded (after deducting the examination fees). However, if you cancel at the last minute before the surgery, the refund policy will be more stringent. It is recommended that you clarify the refund terms when making your appointment and confirm them in writing.

Q: How soon after the surgery can I book a flight back to Taiwan?

A: It is recommended to wait 14–21 days after Double Jaw Surgery and 10–14 days after contouring surgery before flying. During the final follow-up appointment after the surgery, the doctor will assess whether it is safe to travel by plane. Only after confirming that there are no issues can you return home with peace of mind.
